I have a Earth El/Death Necro - Wards/Wells. Have yet to see anyone do this other than myself. I really like him just for the fact that he is so different.

Then you have droks, 15k and fissure armours, generally about 5 types of armour per profession, and can mix and match the bits. So you have about 12 choices per armour location (12^5, or 248832 ways to mix them) at which point we can start dying them. There are 8 dyes, right? You can mix them as well, up to 4 dyes per mix, that's 4096 dye combos per piece of armour; now some are repeated; 4*black is the same as 3*black, so we'll cut it down to 4000 to allow for the odd combos: Oh wait, height, face, hair, skin tone etc... so lets just say 6 choices per selection, that gives close to 8000 looks to the character model itself.
Now we have a sensible 995,328,000 ways to dress any of our 8000 character models, which each have one of 11,430,536,370,000,000 skill/attribute choices. That's a ridiculously limiting 88,468,585,460,000,000,000,000,000,000 combinations!
Thank goodness I still get to pick a weapon and a focus or shield, the mods on said item, the possible use of runes, what kind of pet if one is used....
If only I could be an individual.
It's too bad that Guild Wars is so popular; with 4 character slots each they only have to sell 22,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 copies or so before I'm there's a good chance of being duplicated. I hope I finish with this game before then!

Pure gold... and thanks for doing the math, even if there is a mistake somewhere in there the point is still valid.

No, it is you who is missing the point. If you don't think you are or can be unique, you won't be. If you know you are unique, you will be.

Oh, I see, you find it uspsetting that I mocked your statement. You were trying in some kind of a teenage-angst-fest to make a serious and somehow profound (after all, no capitalizing of letters for our budding e. e. cummings here...), even if it is completely false, statement.
Perhaps it was meant to be a comment on the drives that we as humans must face in a technological environment that reduces our lives to numbers encoded in the computers that run society? A comment on how each of us tries to express and define ourselves through our differences, despite the huge number of similarities that tie us together as people? About how by focussing on differences rather than similarities we have racism, sexism, religious zealotry...
Or maybe you were just being a prick?
We didn't miss the point - you don't really even have a point. To have a point you'd have to be right.
Your argument is flawed. You say "there are only so many combinations". Yes, but there are also only so many players. In fact, since the combinations outnumber the players by such a huge margin, we likely ARE unique, though it isn't a guarantee.
Grow up. People are having fun with their characters, you are a troll. Crawl back under your bridge - the light of reason must be burning your eyes anyway.

Well I'm not unique, but at least a little different. I just made a W/E, my first warrior, and I'm using Ward against Harm and Watch Yourself in PvE, to help my party.
My Me/N has well of power for pve (at attribute 11, giving +5 health regen), and it's the only blood skill I use with that build. It works out well, I don't need to max out my mesmer attributes to be effective.

I play my characters according to how they would act in my story. (I havent written my story anywere. But hey, what else is there to do when you are bored?)
I have a ranger: Raymond Varis (Black Dyed 15k druids "black because it looks like it has dark leather rather than just paint")
Ray has a flat sense of humor, and does not usauly make much sense when he speaks. Discreet but somewhat sarcastic. Loves it when people laughs at his jokes, but when they don't, well that is not uncommon.
And a necro: Evening Reader (Working on fully black dyed initiates armor, also if I was to get enough ectoplasm for a full set of FoW armor, it would most likely go to this character)
Reader has got to be the most confusing character I have. She switches personalities quite often. She will either be crazy party style, or she will be shy.
And lastly an ele: Wendy Wispwind (Armor style not set)
Wendy is Reader's friend. And that is all there is about her so far.

Oh man, I love these role playing type things.
I have a short hair red headed Me/Ne named Cheri Apples that wears all red, rouges top and boots, hot pants and fishnet hoes.
Shes "classy" (whatever all mesmers are right?) but really, shes a total RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO and pretty much a lesbian.
My ranger has an assortment of armors so he looks like whatever. Hes a leader at heart but an excellent follower too. He has the wisdom of a general but the disposition of a buddy. A good problem solver, easy to approach and have a good time with.
My monk is arrogent and expects people to worship the ground he walks on because if they dont he doesnt group with them. j/k
O Yung looks like a jade colored monk. He is reflective and to himself. He sort of hopes he will always be in a team that knows the rules of survival, and hates having to take the leadership role because hed rather spend his efforts his teammates. But he will step up to the plate if he knows hes best suited for the task.
I dont really roleplay much at all, but when the opportunity has presented itself, this is how ive acted out.

Left to right:
Seal Clubette, Mimi Miyagi (with Minka her Pet Spider), Linda Loveless, Mia Smiles, Angelique Collins.
Nothing really unique about them, except for perhaps their names.
